Fashion books are a very lovely option for whiling away an afternoon. They’re also a very quick option for whisking away all your spare cash.
But this one, good god.
I first saw it on this fantastic blog, along with two other equally gorgeous books. But this one caught my eye.
Charles James is one of my favourite designers, one of the most astounding visionaries of his time, and he created some of the most damn photogenic gowns I’ve ever seen.
Don’t let me go on. Just go and google him.
And if you’re in the region, for the love of god, make the most of your good fortune and go to see the exhibition at the Met Museum.
All credit for breaking my heart about the lack of both book and exhibition in my life goes to the Fashion Historia blog, which is wonderful and informative. If you’re at all interested in costume history, it’s a must-follow.
